Former SM East student guilty of second-degree murder in Spillman killing

A Wyandotte County jury today convicted former SM East student Stephen Reed, 17, of second degree murder in the April killing of fellow teen Ryder Spillman, the Kansas City Star reports.

Reed’s cousin Shane pleaded guilty to charges of aiding a felon and possession of a firearm by a juvenile in August.

Stephen Reed will face sentencing of 147 months to 653 months in prison.
