The last untouched building in the north parcel of Corinth Square since the Community Improvement District tax passed there in 2010 got a step closer to being renovated this week.
The Prairie Village Planning Commission recommended approval for a resubmitted proposal to revamp the Hattie’s Coffee building at the south Prairie Village shopping center. Planning Commissioners had asked property owner First Washington Realty to make a number of revisions to the initial plan it brought before them in November, with requested tweaks focused on ensuring the facade of the building more closely matched the rest of the shopping center’s renovations. Among the changes in the plan approved by the commission Tuesday were cedar support columns in the front of the buildings instead of the steel columns that had been part of the initial proposal, planters with a stone veneer, and the inclusion of a new cedar shake roof:
The project is expected to begin construction in 2016. The renovations would be paid for in part by sales tax revenues from the Corinth CID.
