Weekend Kitchen: Cheesecake friends

Cheeseckae

By Julia Westhoff

Do you remember the Golden Girls? I mean, who could forget? Ma, the mean one. Rose, the dumb one. Dorothy, the tall one. And Blanche, the sexy fox. Remember how they ended every episode with a piece of cheesecake in the kitchen? At the time, I didn’t really get it. But now, man…I totally get it. In fact, the Golden Girls have nothing on me when it comes to a love affair with cheesecake. My cravings began a year or so ago, and they haven’t really subsided since. And I’ll tell you what – it’s actually not that easy to come across a decent cheesecake in this town.

So, I make my own. Is that weird? The great thing about cheesecake is that it freezes well and tastes great right from the freezer. I love turtle cheesecake, cheesecake with strawberries, and cheesecake with a sour cream topping.

This recipe from Sweet Paul is great because it adds a little tang to my favorite dessert. Give it a try. Or better yet, take a seat at my kitchen table and we can indulge in a slice together. Just a little something to say thank you for being a friend…

Find the recipe here.
