Three SM East students are among the extremely select group of 15,000 high school seniors nationwide named National Merit Finalists.

Natalie Kaufmann, Juliana Gogol and Bhavish Dinakar all advanced to the finalist stage this month after having learned in September that they had made the semi-finalist round. Starting in March, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation will begin notifying approximately 7,400 students that they have earned scholarship awards.

The finalist status is determined by performance on the PSAT as well as students’ academic record throughout high school and the recommendation of their principal.
