Area fans of Sprouts Farmers Market, one of the fastest growing grocery chains in the country, no longer have to make the hike out to southern Overland Park or Lenexa.

The new Sprouts location in the Nall Hills Shopping Center at 95th Street and Nall Avenue officially opened its doors to the public Wednesday morning. The store features the extensive selection of organic produce, natural meats and bulk grains and sweets that are the chain’s hallmarks, as well as a fresh juice bar. The new location also features a fresh coffee bar, an amenity not present in the other two Johnson County locations. It also features a slightly different interior look than other stores, with a new signage package noting its different departments.

The new Sprouts will employ between 130 and 140 people at any given time, an area manager said.

Sprouts had initially planned to come to northeast Johnson County as part of the Mission Gateway, but pulled out of the project after it saw long delays and financing problems.

Sprouts will be recognizing the grand opening with a series of promotions and giveaways over the weekend.
