The third of the three incumbents whose seats on the Shawnee Mission Board of Education will be on the ballot this November has filed for reelection.

Donna Bysfield, who represents the Shawnee Mission East area, follows Shawnee Mission West area incumbent Craig Denny and at-large incumbent Cindy Neighbor in seeking another term.

Bysfield was first elected to the school board in 1993, and will be seeking her 7th term in the seat. Prior to joining the board, she had a long record of involvement at area schools, serving as the PTA president at the now-closed Somerset Elementary and Meadowbrook Junior High Schools as well as SM East. Her eldest child graduated from SM East in 1992. Bysfield also played role in the launch of the Shawnee Mission Education Foundation and the Shawnee Mission School District Committee for Excellence.

Bysfield had indicated last month that she was then undecided about whether to seek reelection.

She was unopposed in her reelection bids in 2013, 2009, 2005, 2001 and 1997.
