The sights of the 2019 Old Shawnee Days parade

Boy Scouts marched out front at the 53rd annual Old Shawnee Days parade this weekend.

It was tough to ask for a nicer day for this year’s installment of the Old Shawnee Days parade, with warm sun and clear skies greeting the marchers and observers along Johnson Drive.

Former WDAF meteorologist Mike Thompson served as emcee of the parade.
The color guard came decked out in Revolutionary War attire.
The Shawnee Fire Department used a ladder truck to fly a large American flag over the parade route.
SM North graduate Grace Altenhofen was named this year’s Junior Pioneer.
Mrs. Kansas Randi Cole of Johnson County made an appearance.
