Our forum for the candidates running for Overland Park city council’s southern races, Wards 4, 5 and 6, is set for tonight, Oct. 22 at Lakewood Middle School, 6601 Edgewater Drive, Overland Park. Doors to the event open at 6 p.m. The forum itself will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. We’ll be collecting questions from the audience on notecards to pose to the candidates.
Former Gov. Sebelius endorses state Sen. Bollier in U.S. Senate race. Former Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius has announced her endorsement of state Sen. Barbara Bollier in her bid for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate. Daytime lane closures on I-35 begin Tuesday. The Kansas Department of Transportation will begin daily lane and ramp closures on northbound I-35 between 135th Street and 95th Street on Tuesday, Oct. 22. Closures are expected to continue daily between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. through Friday, Nov. 1, to accommodate pavement striping work.
Roeland Park police hosting Safety Night on Wednesday. The Roeland Park Police Department will be hosting “Safety Night” at the Roeland Park Community Center on Wednesday, Oct. 23rd from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. There will be public safety vehicles and equipment on display, children’s games, music, hotdogs, and a demonstration from the department’s K9 unit. The event is free and open to the public.
