Merriam cancels 35th annual Turkey Creek Festival, 5K run/walk to become part of Merriam Drive Live

The city of Merriam on Monday announced it was canceling the 35th Annual Turkey Creek Festival due to COVID-19.

The festival was scheduled for May 16. The city said the 5k walk and run associated with the festival will now become part of the Merriam Drive Live event in October. Merriam tweeted that the decision came with a heavy heart, but the health and safety of the community and Merriam team members remains the top priority.

Other events in Merriam canceled due to COVID-19 include Brunch with the Bunny on April 4 and the spring large item pick-up the week of April 20. Nearby, the 54th Annual Old Shawnee Days was also canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.
