Briefly Noted: Overland Park Police reunite parents with 2 girls found walking Sunday

Overland Park Police say they have reunited the parents with two young girls who were found walking unaccompanied Sunday afternoon.

The girls, ages 2 and 3, were found walking outside near 94th and Ballentine at about 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon, according to police.

Police were not able initially to determine the girls’ home address and a canvass of the local area began along with requests for help on social media.

About three hours later, Overland Park Police said the girls’ parents had been located.

Lenexa seeking volunteer musicians for community orchestra

The city of Lenexa is seeking volunteer musicians to participate in the Lenexa Community Orchestra’s fifth season — in particular, musicians who play cello, violin, bass, viola or percussion instruments.

Led by Conductor Richard Ryan, the orchestra plans to perform three indoor concerts July 17, July 31 and Aug. 14. The orchestra also seeks volunteers to support the orchestra. The deadline to sign up is May 30.

County park district teaching ‘How to use Zoom’ program for adults age 50+

The Johnson County Park and Recreation District will offer a “How to Use Zoom” program for adults age 50 and older in mid-April.

Use of Zoom and other video chat platforms have skyrocketed during the COVID-19 pandemic to limit the risk of viral spread during in-person gatherings.

The program will take place at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, at the Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood Drive, Roeland Park. Cost for the one-hour event is $10 per person for Johnson County residents and $11 for non-residents. To register by phone, call (913) 831-3359. Anyone younger than 50 who is interested in the program may call (913) 826-2975 and ask about space availability.
