Tickets available for Friends of JCDS annual holiday tree raffle
Tickets are still available for the Friends of JCDS’ annual Holiday Tree Raffle. The nonprofit, which builds and restores affordable, accessible houses for people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, will sell 400 tickets for $20 each until 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23.
The organization plans to draw a first place winner’s name as well as a second place winner. The first place winner will receive this year’s Christmas tree as well as presents, all valued at about $2,500. The second place winner gets a “very cool prize,” according to the nonprofit.
The drawing takes place live on Facebook at 5 p.m. Nov. 23. Tickets are available at https://friendsofjcds.org/events/holiday-tree-raffle or by calling 913-826-2270.
Funds raised will help provide basic needs and affordable and accessible housing for the people Friends of JCDS serves.
Shawnee issuing bonds for Netrality project on Nieman
The Shawnee City Council on Nov. 8 unanimously approved authorizing the issuance of $36.2 million in bonds to funds phase 1 of a master project for Netrality, a data center operator, in the Nieman Business Park at 79th Street and Nieman Road.
The project includes construction of facilities at 7801 Nieman Road for the data center operator.
