KS Float Spa opens to offer float therapy in south Overland Park

A new type of spa experience has arrived in Overland Park. KS Float Spa just opened in south Overland Park, specializing in float therapy.

Where exactly: KS Float Spa opened at 11972 W. 119th St.

  • At 119th and Quivira, the spa moved into a space in the Stoll Park shopping center.
  • Regular spa hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
  • Weekend hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
  • The spa is closed on Wednesdays.

What is float therapy? During a session, spa-goers float in 10 inches of salt water to reduce sensory input.

  • Intended effects of the service include stress relief, sleep recovery and pain reduction.
  • KC Float Spa offers 90-minute, one-hour and two-hour float sessions — each proceeded with a 15-minute massage in a full-body massage chair.

Behind the business: KS Float Spa managers Blake Swetnam and Jeremy Brooks said they have worked in the float therapy industry for roughly eight years.

  • Swetnam said he wanted to create a business that helped people, and he found float therapy to be helpful both mentally and physically.
  • “It’s just a dramatic healing effect that allows people to kind of remain in balance,” Swetnam said. “We are giving you the most nothingness that you’ve ever experienced before you were born. It’s really just a wellness tool that we’ve never really had.”
