Five Guys national hamburger chain will soon be available at Bluhawk shopping center in southern Overland Park.
The details: Stu Stram, head of property management and development of the Bluhawk shopping center, said the new Five Guys franchise there is set to open next month.
- Stram said an exact date is not final at this time, but Five Guys is “definitely” expected to open in October.
- This will be the Virginia-based fast food chain’s fifth Johnson County location and second in south Overland Park.
- It is also one of three burger chains at the still-developing shopping center off U.S. 69 Highway, which already features a Freddy’s and will soon include a Whataburger.
Where exactly? The Five Guys will be located at 7733 W. 159th Street, Stram said.
More about Bluhawk

There are several moving parts at Bluhawk off W. 159th Street and U.S Highway 69.
- Five Guys is one of eight new tenants Bluhawk announced earlier this year, including places like JINYA Ramen Bar and European Wax Center.
- Some of those newer tenants like Fry Orthodontics and Andy’s Frozen Custard are already open for business.
- Plans to build a youth and amateur sports complex — the centerpiece of the entire development — near the retail center are also moving forward, with ground expected to be broken as soon as the end of this year, pending the city’s approval of $55 million in state STAR bond incentives.
Key quote: “Obviously we’re excited and thrilled for all the new tenants, we’ve got a lot of new tenants coming in — just recently Fry Orthodontics, Andy’s and BLUSH Fitness opened,” Stram told the Post this week. “We’re excited about the diversity with the tenants we have and we certainly look forward to expanding to new concepts as we move forward.”
