Driver in custody after fatal wrong-way wreck — “The driver of the truck, a 31-year-old from Lenexa, was hurt, and police took him into custody the night of the crash. Overland Park police spokesman John Lacy would not speculate if the driver was impaired, but officers did several tests and are waiting for results.” [Fox 4]

Republic not in compliance in Lenexa — “The City is aware that some Lenexa residents are experiencing issues with Republic Services. At this time, they are not incompliance with city code, and we are actively working with Republic to ensure they meet Lenexa’s requirements for licensed trash and recycling haulers.” [Twitter]

JoCo judge elected head of legal group — “The Kansas District Judges Association, an organization open to all state district court judges, has elected officers to serve the organization in the coming year. Judge Thomas Kelly Ryan was elected president. He is a district judge in the 10th Judicial District, which is Johnson County.” —press release 

Shawnee police officer passes out $100 bills — “On Friday, instead of pulling people over, [Shawnee Police] Officer Adam Dougherty handed out $100 dollar bills to people passing by. The surprise was well received, especially by one woman with a young boy in tow.” [KSHB]

Lenexa Holiday Market coming up Saturday — “Shop Lenexa’s Holiday Farmers Market on Dec. 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. inside City Hall. We’ll have more than a dozen vendors lined up selling an array of goods that they’ve grown, baked or crafted.” [City of Lenexa]
