Virtual reality arcade Sandbox VR coming to Leawood

A “futuristic” virtual reality arcade called Sandbox VR will open soon in southern Leawood.

The arcade is coming to the Town Center Plaza

  • Sandbox VR will operate on the north side of the Town Center Plaza shopping center, near GNC and X-Golf.
  • The arcade is the latest of several recent additions to the Leawood shopping center, including the Rockhill Grille and Café Europa.
  • Regular hours for Sandbox VR have not yet been posted to the shopping center’s website.

Sandbox VR offers a “futuristic” gaming experience

  • At Sandbox VR, groups of up to six people can play in a variety of computer-generated simulations, which incorporate sci-fi elements like zombies, aliens and Star Trek characters.
  • Tickets are $50 per person Monday through Thursday, and $55 per person Friday through Sunday.

This is the first Sandbox VR location in the area

  • The incoming Sandbox VR location will be the first in both Johnson County, the wider Kansas City metro area and the first in Kansas.
  • The arcade company has locations in several other states across the country, as well as in Canada, Europe and Asia.
