Tacos & Tequila brings authentic Mexican food to Overland Park

Tacos & Tequila Restaurant and Cantina is bringing authentic Mexican food to southern Overland Park with its newest location.

Brothers Juan Carlos and Octavio Morales opened the restaurant late last fall at 7901 W. 151st St. as a way to serve up cuisine from Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, in Mexico to Johnson Countians.

The menu features tacos and fajitas

  • Living up to its name, Tacos & Tequila has a variety of taco options, such as carne asada, al pastor and vegetarian.
  • Other items on the menu include loaded rice dishes, enchiladas, quesadillas, nachos and burritos.
  • One featured menu item is the California burrito, which comes with a choice of meat, fries, homemade salsa, Chihuahua cheese, guacamole and pico de gallo.

Tacos & Tequila also has an extensive drink menu

  • In addition to margaritas, the restaurant serves cocktails, tequila flights and other specialty drinks.
  • Tacos & Tequila also has several imported and domestic beers, as well as beers on tap.

It opened its first location in Fulton, Missouri, in 2017

  • The family-owned restaurant later opened a second location in Mexico, Missouri, in 2019, but it closed in August 2022.
  • The brothers said their restaurant is inspired by their upbringing and the importance their mother taught them about hospitality.
  • “Warm hospitality, excellent food, remarkable service and a family atmosphere are the pillars that sustain this company and those that separate us from other restaurants,” the company said in a statement.
