🚨 One thing to know today
Newly released video shows a raised trash truck dumpster hitting multiple traffic signals along Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park last week.
All told, the city says the truck’s dumpster hit and broke four traffic signals between 80th and 87th streets, costing $4,000 worth of damage.
The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. Friday.
The city posted images from traffic cameras along the busy stretch of Metcalf to its Facebook page Tuesday night.
In one angle, taken at 80th Street, the truck’s dumpster can be seen hitting a traffic signal, which then falls to the street and shatters.
Video from another intersection shows the view of a traffic camera gyrating wildly after a signal nearby gets hit.
The truck appears to be from GFL, one of several private waste haulers with which the city contracts.
According to Overland Park Police, the city has contacted the company.
