KC Bling Designz opens with local makers in Overland Park

A new boutique that sells products from local makers has recently opened in southern Overland Park.

Dana Hanley and her daughter, Lilly Criarimboli, officially debuted KC Bling Designz’s brick-and-mortar location in December 2022 at 7932 W. 151st St.

Before opening the storefront, the mother-daughter duo ran their business out of other collaborative boutiques around the Kansas City metro for the past few years.

The shop’s products come from women-owned businesses

  • The store features items from 15 local businesses, including The Chic Closet, MADdenim, Changing Ace Boutique and KC Bling’s own items.
  • “It was my goal to have only women featured in the store,” Hanley said. “I just feel that women are still rising as entrepreneurs… and we wanted to create a sisterhood for the collaborative.”
  • Hanley said she met many of the local makers featured in the boutique when KC Bling Designz opened its first pop up at Painted Tree Boutiques in Overland Park.

The boutique sells a variety of KC-centric apparel

  • The storefront features several different shirts, sweaters, jeans and denim jackets, as well as jewelry, accessories and some decor pieces.
  • Items in the boutique are typically rotated out once or twice a week, which Hanley said allows for new items to come in on a weekly basis.
  • “We never want it to be the same things each time you come in,” Criarimboli said.

KC Bling Designz launched in 2011

  • Two years ago, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Criarimboli said she and Hanley decided to take the business more seriously and began selling their items at several pop ups around the metro.
  • “I was tired of running around with my head cut off and not being able to have a home base, so we decided to open the store,” Criarimboli said.
  • In addition to the new storefront and its pop up at Painted Tree, KC Bling is currently selling its wears at three other collaborative boutiques, including Black Rose Co. in Kansas City.
