The Bar opens newest JoCo location in Prairie Village

The Bar Prairie Village is now open at the Meadowbrook Shopping Center.

Located at 5316 95th Street, The Bar Prairie Village is the Kansas City-based bar and grill’s fourth location in Johnson County and fifth overall.

The Bar Prairie Village opened last month

  • While The Bar hoped to open this newest location by the end of last year, general manager Amy Turpin said they’ve still been met with “fantastic” customer support.
  • Turpin said there aren’t many sports bars in that area near Meadowbrook Park, which adds to the location’s appeal.
  • “We’ve heard more positive than negative and the negatives are really just normal day-to-day restaurant things that any restaurant can work on and change,” she said.

This is The Bar’s first new location since 2019

  • Turpin said there are 29 televisions in the 6,500 square foot bar and grill — the biggest of all The Bar locations — and there are plans to add a few more on the patio.
  • The Bar Prairie Village’s patio can sit nearly 140 people, Turpin said.
  • The patio features three fire pits, a couple of couches, fly fans to regulate temperature and keep bugs out, and accordion doors that connect the patio to indoor dining.
  • “I wish we had it at every store, because it’s just fun to open up the doors,” Turpin said. “That’s been the area, it seems, that everyone wants to sit at.”

The Bar is one of several new tenants at the shopping center

  • Meadowbrook is undergoing a complete renovation itself.
  • Along with the new look, there are several new tenants, including AquaTots, an Arizona-based swim school.
  • Nearby, The Big Biscuit recently reopened its revamped Prairie Village location.
