JoCo Notes: Over capacity crowd expected for Oswald funeral

Welcome to a new week, Shawnee Mission!

🌤 Today’s forecast: Mostly sunny and much cooler. High: 75. Low: 58.

🚨 Happening today

Local authorities say they are expecting an over capacity crowd this morning for funeral services for Fairway Police Officer Jonah Oswald, who was shot and killed in the line of duty last week.

The funeral, which is open to the public, will take place at 11 a.m. at Westside Family Church, 8500 Woodsonia Dr., in Lenexa.

Because of the number of people expected to attend, another church four miles away — City Center Church, 17500 W. 87th Street Pkwy. — will host an overflow crowd for on-site livestreaming of the event.

Authorities are also encouraging anyone who wants to see the service to watch the funeral online. It’s expected to be livestreamed by all local television networks.

There is no procession or graveside service planned for after the funeral.
