Happy Tuesday, Blue Valley!

Today’s forecast: Mostly sunny and still superbly cool. High: 77. Low: 59.

One thing to know today

Local standout student Noor Haideri has earned another honor.

The Blue Valley High senior has been named the Vice President of the Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) National Student Leadership Council for the coming school year.

In that position, Haideri will be one of 16 students to represent the thousands of students involved in SADD nationwide.

“Noor’s passion and commitment to the safety and well-being of herself and her peers makes her an ideal candidate for SADD’s National Student Leadership Council,” said SADD Interim Director Jessica Hugdual, SADD Interim Director. “Noor will be instrumental in providing insight to help create national strategies that address the emerging and ever-changing health and safety issues facing our students.”

Haideri founded Blue Valley High School’s SADD chapter and is already on Kansas’ SADD Leadership Council.

She recently garnered more praise and attention for winning the Breakthrough Junior Challenge, a global science competition that netted her a $250,000 college scholarship.
