The Blue Valley Education Foundation will hold its annual community breakfast this morning at the Overland Park Convention Center.

The breakfast is one of the nonprofit’s biggest annual fundraising events and draws thousands of people, including business leaders, elected officials, as well as students and families.

The money raised goes towards supporting the foundations various programs that give out grants to teachers and scholarships to students.

In recent years, the event’s total haul has been eye-popping, with $345,000 raised in 2021, for instance.

The breakfast Thursday runs from 7-9 a.m. and will feature performances by different student groups, as well as a panel discussing the economic impact of the district, moderated by Superintendent Tonya Merrigan.
