Longboards Wraps & Bowls set to open new OP franchise

A local surf-inspired “wrap shack” will soon start offering its wraps in southern Overland Park.

Longboards Wraps & Bowls has begun the finishing touches on its new southern Overland Park location, gearing up for an early June opening.

Longboards will operate at 8150 W. 135th St.

  • The restaurant has moved into a space on the corner of West 135th Street and Hemlock Street — just east of U.S. Highway 69.
  • T-Mobile previously occupied that space, and it also neighbors First Watch and Robeks Juice Bar.
  • Once it opens, Longboards will operate from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

Longboards serves wraps, bowls and salads

  • Founded by Gilbert Macapagal in 2003, the Longboards menu nods to the “island state of mind” — a nod to Macapagal’s time on the Pacific coast.
  • The menu features a wide range of wraps, from “grilled style” Cabo steak and Thai chicken to larger “OG style” wraps like the Longboards sushi wrap.
  • Longboards also serves rice and noodles bowls, as well as large salads with various protein options.

This marks the fourth Longboards location in JoCo

  • The 135th Street location also serves as the second Overland Park location for Longboards, following another one at 8775 W. 95th St.
  • The original Longboards Wraps & Bowls opened in 2003 in Kansas City, Missouri.
  • The local eatery also has another Johnson County location in Mission, as well as four more across the state line in Missouri.
