A gym company offering workouts in a “no judgments” zone has unveiled its first Johnson County location.

Crunch Fitness officially opened its new Shawnee gym for workouts on Friday — with plans already underway for another gym in Olathe.

Crunch Fitness operates at 11311 Shawnee Mission Parkway

  • The gym moved into a space just off of Shawnee Mission Parkway that used to house a Genesis Health Club location.
  • Genesis moved out of the 40,000-square-foot space in 2018, and before it occupied that space, it was home to a 24 Hour Fitness gym.
  • Crunch Fitness operates from 5 a.m. to 12 a.m. Monday, 24 hours Tuesday through Thursday, from midnight to 11 p.m. Friday, and from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Crunch Fitness offers a wide variety of workouts

  • The gym is furnished with all types of equipment, from treadmills and strength training weights to ellipticals and pull-down machines.
  • The gym also contains a group fitness studio, boxing studio, a tanning salon, and HydroMassage beds for members to use.
  • Memberships at Crunch Fitness come in tiers, starting at $9.99 for the “base” plan and $29.99 for the “peak results” plan.

The Shawnee gym is the first Crunch Fitness in JoCo

  • The New York-based gym chain also intends to open another Johnson County location later this year in Olathe.
  • That gym will operate out of a former Goodwill space at 16630 W. 135th St., at the Rose Bud Plaza shopping center.
  • “Crunch is for everyone, from the first-time gym-goer to the seasoned athlete,” said Brian Hibbard, CEO of Fitness Ventures LLC, via a release. “Add in a high-energy and fun environment, and with memberships starting at $9.99 per month we have options to meet everyone’s goals and budget!”
