Petco planning new store in Lenexa across from Oak Park Mall

A national retailer offering all types of pet products has set its sights on a new Johnson County location.

Petco intends to move into a new Lenexa space soon, Kansas City-based commercial real estate brokerage firm Block & Company announced this month.

Petco going into Orchard Corners shopping center

  • The store plans to move into a space on the southwest corner of West 95th Street and Quivira Road near T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods.
  • The 37,000-square-foot space was previously occupied by Stein Mart before it closed in 2019.
  • Petco will occupy only 18,500 square feet of that space with outdoor retailer Sierra taking over the other half of it.

Petco offers all types of pet supplies

  • The store offers a range of pet items, such as food, toys, treats, accessories and health items like vitamins.
  • Petco offers these items for dogs, cats, fish and reptiles.
  • The store also has some smaller animals for adoption, including hamsters, birds and guinea pigs.

This marks the fifth Petco in JoCo

  • The Lenexa location would also mark the first in the city for the California-based brand.
  • Outside of Lenexa, the company has stores in Overland Park and Olathe.
  • Across the state line, Petco also operates three stores in Kansas City, Missouri.
