A Mexican eatery has permanently closed its doors to dine-in customers in southern Overland Park.
Coco Bolos Mexican Grill & Cantina recently closed its dining room at the Prairiefire entertainment district.
Coco Bolos operated at 5621 W. 135th St.
- The restaurant occupied a space on the east side of Prairiefire, just off West 135th Street and Nall Avenue.
- Coco Bolos occupied that space for roughly a decade before its closure.
- The restaurant also neighbored upscale eatery Veritas Whiskey & Wine at Prairiefire.

Coco Bolos will pivot to focus on catering
- Coco Bolos will now focus exclusively on catering and private events, according to a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page.
- In the post, owners thanked customers for their support over the past decade.
- “We have had an amazing run… and now a new chapter is here for us,” the post read. “We’ve cherished every moment with you! Thank you for being part of our journey.”
Prairiefire has seen a lot of recent activity
- The closure of Coco Bolos for dine-in marks the latest in a growing number of changes at the southern Overland Park shopping center.
- A space previously intended for a grocery store will reportedly become a family-friendly entertainment center at Prairiefire later this year.
- Two national food and drink brands, fast-casual eatery Salad and Go and coffee chain Dutch Bros, also intend to build new locations at Prairiefire.
