Planning a staycation for Spring Break 2025?
Kids (and parents) can still have an amazing break this March with Youth Enrichment Camps at Johnson County Community College (JCCC). JCCC will offer a variety of camps for children grades 4-9 starting March 17 through March 21 (which overlaps with all Johnson County public school districts’ Spring Break period).
Something they don’t teach you in school
Monday, March 17 through Thursday, March 20, JCCC will offer four in-person Spring Break camps at the main campus at 12345 College Boulevard, Overland Park, Kansas. These unique, multi-day learning experiences provide the opportunity for children to learn about something not typically taught in school.
- Getting Started with Game Development (Open to grades 7-9)
- Learn the basics of planning, designing, coding, and creating game art – and then test other camp members’ games!
- Mixed-Media Art Exploration (Open to grades 4-6)
- Students can explore drawing, watercolor, collage, and other artistic mediums – and create art inspired by their own interests.
- Madam President Camp (Open to grades 6-8)
- Learn about leadership, communication, and civic engagement – teaching young women ages 11-13 that they can be strong leaders in the community (and world)!
- NASA! Journey Into Outer Space (Open to grades 4-6)
- Students get hands-on experience looking at galaxies and planets, learn about space, and participate in a rocket launch at the end of the camp.
Camp Nerman
The Nerman Museum of Contemporary Art (NMOCA) at JCCC will also host a four-day youth painting camp from March 18 through 21. Students learn about a variety of painting techniques through the nationally acclaimed permanent collection and exhibitions in the Nerman Museum and then create abstract designs, city scenes, and landscapes in the museum’s studio classroom.
NMOCA will offer two sessions this Spring Break:
Babysitter Training
Youth interested in becoming a Red Cross-certified babysitter can sign up for JCCC’s Babysitter Training day camp. They learn tips to make babysitting time fun and safe for the sitter and the children. This training is open to students grades 6-9 and runs from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on Friday, March 21.
