2025 Overland Park city council election primer
There are four contested races for seats on the Overland Park City Council this year.
In addition, two other candidates are running unopposed.
You can read candidates’ responses to our questionnaire below and see videos of the forum the Post held earlier this fall. (The forum is split into two separate videos due to a technical issue.)
Candidates without an opponent were not asked to respond to the questionnaire or participate in the forum.
Ward 1
- Current Councilmember Logan Heley is seeking his third term and does not have an opponent.
Ward 2
In Ward 2, Councilmember Melissa Cheatham is seeking her second term and will face a challenge from Sydney Marsden.

Ward 3
In Ward 3, former councilmember Tom Carignan is vying against BikeWalkKCs’ Amy Scrivner for the seat being vacated by the retiring Jim Kite.

In Ward 4, Councilmember Scott Mosher is seeking his second term running against real estate agent Amy Antrim.

In Ward 5, Andrew Payne and Alexandria Washington are vying for the seat currently held by Sam Passer, who is not running for reelection.

- Josh Beck, the managing partner at an accounting firm, is running unopposed for the Ward 6 currently held by Jeff Cox, who is not seeking reelection.
