A new IHOP restaurant is coming to the small southern Johnson County town of Edgerton next month.
Officials said the goal is for the new franchise of the national diner chain to be open around the third week of April.
“We are excited to give the residents a new dining option,” James Oltman, president of Elevate Edgerton, the city’s economic development group, told the Post.
The restaurant is opening next to a Goodcents sandwich shop in the TA Express truck stop travel center located along Homestead Lane at 200th Street near the 199th Street and Homestead exit off I-35.
That Goodcents opened in 2022.
IHOP is well-known for its menu of hearty, classic American breakfast options, most notably pancakes (IHOP stands for International House of Pancakes) and has nearly 1,800 franchises in the U.S. and around the world.
“This continues to add to the city’s growing vision for the area at the Homestead exit on both sides of the street,” Oltman said.
More growth in that area
An approximately 6,000-square-foot Maverik travel center began construction last year as part of a growing commercial corridor on the southwest corner of Homestead and 199th Street.
Oltman said the city is focused on expanding dining options for residents in that area.
“Bringing in a well-known and loved restaurant like IHOP is an exciting step toward enhancing our local dining amenities and supporting economic growth,” he said.
IHOP’s ownership group LV Petroleum said they were happy to bring IHOP to Edgerton.

“We look forward to serving this community and providing a place where you can relax, enjoy yourself and have a great meal,” Jeanette Davis, LV Petroleum’s senior vice president, said.
The restaurant will feature a variety of signature pancakes and a full menu of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.
City officials said IHOP is committed to making the new establishment a go-to dining destination in Edgerton.
Mayor Don Roberts said the city is excited for the new restaurant to open next month and suggested the city is not done yet.
“We’re continuing to work to bring new options to the community,” he said.
Oltman said the goal is to open next month, but an exact date hasn’t been announced for the ribbon cutting.
