Indian eatery and market to take over shuttered pizzeria space in Overland Park

A Texas-based chain serving Indian cuisine will soon make its Johnson County debut.

Desi Chowrastha plans to open its first Johnson County location in Overland Park this summer, which will mark its first in the metro area.

Desi Chowrastha is coming to 6301 W. 135th St.

  • The eatery will move into a space at the Corbin Park shopping center, just off 135th Street and Lamar Avenue.
  • Nebraska-based Copps Pizza Company previously occupied that space for roughly two years before closing earlier this spring.
  • The restaurant space is also near Embody, a contrast therapy studio that recently opened.

Desi Chowrastha offers “scrumptious” Indian cuisine

  • Desi Chowrastha doubles as a market and eatery offering a variety of items.
  • The word “Desi” refers to “land” in India, and the word “Chowrastha” refers to the intersection of four streets.
  • The restaurant’s menu features dishes like biryani, samosas, butter chicken and chana masala.

This marks the first Desi Chowrastha in Johnson County

  • The Overland Park spot also serves as the first in the wider Kansas City metro for Desi Chowrastha.
  • The chain got its start in Texas where it has a handful of locations, including one with drive-thru service and another for grocery shopping.
  • Desi Chowrastha also has locations in Virginia, Nevada, Georgia, Indiana, Arizona, and Illinois.
