Betty Rae’s is adding another JoCo ice cream shop, this time at Overland Park’s Bluhawk

Betty Rae's is rapidly growing its Johnson County footprint. Outside of Overland Park, the ice cream company has stores in Merriam, Olathe, Prairie Village and Shawnee.

In its latest move of rapid growth, a popular Kansas City, Missouri-based ice creamery is approaching its latest Johnson County opening.

Ice cream shop Betty Rae’s will unveil its new location on Wednesday at the Bluhawk development in southern Overland Park.

Betty Rae’s is coming to 8051 W. 160th St.

  • The ice cream shop is opening inside the Cosentino’s Market grocery store at the Bluhawk shopping center, just off 160th Street and Antioch Road.
  • Cosentino’s Market is on the east side of Bluhawk, near Three Dog Bakery and T.J. Maxx.
  • The shop’s regular hours will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The shop’s first customers will get free ice cream

  • Starting on Wednesday, grand opening festivities at Betty Rae’s will commence — including up to two scoops of free ice cream for the first 50 customers in line on Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Betty Rae’s will also offer free toppings and sauces all day on Wednesday, and free waffle cones all day on Thursday.
  • Other festivities will include Betty Rae’s merch giveaways, and chances to win free ice cream for a year through the Betty Rae’s loyalty program.

This marks the sixth Betty Rae’s in Johnson County

  • The Bluhawk shop also serves as the second location in southern Overland Park for the ice creamery, which got its start in Kansas City, Missouri’s Waldo neighborhood.
  • Outside of Overland Park, the quickly-growing company has Johnson County stores in Merriam, Olathe, Prairie Village and Shawnee.
  • Further west, Betty Rae’s also has a new shop in the works in Lawrence.
