Coffee chain Dutch Bros breaks ground on Prairiefire shop in Overland Park

The new Dutch Bros shop at the Prairiefire shopping center will serve as the Oregon-based chain's second location in the city.

An Oregon-based coffee chain is on its way up at Overland Park’s Prairiefire shopping center.

Work has officially begun on a new Dutch Bros shop there, paving the way for an opening toward the end of 2025.

Dutch Bros is coming to 5851 W. 135th St.

  • The company is building a new drive-thru shop at the Prairiefire shopping center, on the southwest corner of 135th and Outlook streets.
  • There, it will operate near the AMC movie theater and Rock & Brews.
  • It will also be next to incoming salad eatery Salad and Go, which has yet to be built.

Dutch Bros offers caffeinated drinks in various forms

  • The coffee shop’s menu offers a wide variety of coffee drinks, from traditional lattes and cold brews to signature drinks like the “kicker” (espresso and Irish cream) and the “caramelizer” (espresso, caramel and chocolate milk).
  • In addition to coffee, Dutch Bros also offers flavored “Rebel” energy drinks, which come in flavors like peach, watermelon and strawberry.
  • Dutch Bros also serves other beverages like chai lattes, sparkling sodas, smoothies and lemonades.

This marks the second Dutch Bros in Overland Park

  • The Oregon-based company opened its first Overland Park shop at 9721 Metcalf Ave. earlier this year.
  • Outside of Overland Park, Dutch Bros also has Johnson County locations in Shawnee, Olathe and Lenexa.
  • Across the state line, the chain has four locations in Kansas City, Missouri.
