Do you live in Shawnee? The Post is hosting a candidate forum and needs your help

The Post is hosting a forum for Shawnee City Council candidates on Sept. 11 and wants residents to attend and ask questions.

It’s an off-year election, meaning no state or federal contests are on the ballot this Nov. 4.

All the attention will be on local races — including four contested races for Shawnee City Council. Check out the full list of candidates across Johnson County here.

The Post is hosting forums in a dozen communities this fall, and we need your help.

If you live in Shawnee, here’s how you can assist us.

Come to our Shawnee forum on Sept. 11

The Post has invited all candidates in the four Shawnee City Council wards to our forum.

It will be Sept. 11 at Monticello Library, 22435 W. 66th St., in Shawnee.

The forum starts at 6 p.m. and will last between an hour and an hour and 15 minutes.

These events work best when voters show up and ask questions and participate in the democratic process.

Tell us you plan to come at our Facebook page. You can also tell us by emailing us directly at stories@johnsoncountypost.com.

It’s not required, but it does let us anticipate how many people to expect.

Send us a question we can ask Shawnee candidates

We also need to hear from you. Oftentimes, residents know their cities’ big issues much better than we do.

What issues and priorities do you want candidates in Shawnee talking about ahead of November?

What questions do you want them to answer on the record?
