Mediterranean chain CAVA eyes Leawood as next JoCo stop

Pending city approval, the new Leawood location would mark the Washington, D.C. chain's fourth location in Johnson County.

A growing Leawood development may soon be home to Johnson County’s newest CAVA location.

Plans for the new restaurant at the site are currently going through the city approval process in Leawood.

This would mark the Mediterranean eatery’s fourth Johnson County location, if plans are approved.

CAVA aims to come to Leawood Village

  • The 43,000-square-foot building would be part of the Leawood Village development, just off 86th Terrace and State Line Road.
  • CAVA would be one of the first commercial tenants to come on board at the mixed-use development, following Pilates studio FS8 on the ground level.
  • The site is across State Line Road from Ward Parkway Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

CAVA serves fast-casual Mediterranean fare

  • Customers at CAVA can create their own bowls and pita wraps, choosing from a wide range of options for grains, greens and toppings.
  • The restaurant’s menu also offers some pre-designed combinations for bowls and wraps — such as the “falafel crunch” bowl, which comes with falafel, roasted veggies, hummus, feta cheese, pickled onions, pita crisps, lentils, rice, greens and skhug.
  • CAVA also offers pita chips as a side, in addition to sweet treats like brownies and cookies.

This marks the fourth CAVA in Johnson County

  • The addition of the Leawood location most recently follows the arrival of CAVA at Merriam Grand Station further north.
  • The Washington, D.C.-based chain also has two locations in Overland Park: one near the Oak Park Mall off 95th Street and Quivira Road, and another at the Corbin Park shopping center off 135th Street and Metcalf Avenue.
  • Across the state line, CAVA also has a location in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
