A growing mixed-use development in Overland Park will soon be home to two nationally known restaurants.
Upscale eatery The Capital Grille and sports bar Yard House, both based in Florida, plan to unveil new locations near the Aspiria corporate campus in Overland Park.
The Capital Grille is a fine-dining steakhouse
- The restaurant is coming to the southwest corner of 115th Street and Nall Avenue, near the Andretti go-karting venue.
- The Capital Grille’s menu focuses primarily on steak and seafood dishes, though the restaurant also offers a range of appetizers and craft cocktails.
- The Florida-based eatery has another location across the state line in Kansas City, Missouri.

Yard House offers draft beers and classic American fare
- Yard House, which will be near The Capital Grille off 115th Street and Nall Avenue, is known for its wide range of beers on tap and eats like pizzas, burgers and tacos.
- Though the restaurant also has a corporate office in California, it’s currently owned by Darden Restaurants, the same Florida-based restaurant group that owns The Capital Grille.
- Yard House currently has two Kansas City locations: one on the Kansas side of the city, and another on the Missouri side.
The two restaurants are part of wider development
- According to a release from Block & Company, the Kansas City-based managers of the development, the addition of Yard House and The Capital Grille are part of a larger mixed-use development plan for the nearly 10-acre site near Aspiria.
- A 100,000-square-foot, four-story AC Hotel by Marriott is also planned for the site — which will have 126 rooms, a full-service restaurant and bar, 4,500 square feet of meeting and event space, and a dedicated wedding suite.
- The project will also bring 10,000-square feet of retail (amounting to five new leasable spaces) to the site, though further details on what could come to those spaces were not given.
