Local apparel shop We Got Your Back closes in Overland Park

The store, which has been in downtown Overland Park for roughly four years, had its last day on Dec. 24.

After roughly four years, a local clothing shop has said goodbye to Overland Park.

Locally owned We Got Your Back, known for its Kansas City-themed apparel and goods, has closed its downtown Overland Park storefront. The store closed its doors on Christmas Eve.

We Got Your Back was at 7940 Santa Fe Drive

  • The boutique occupied a space just off 80th Street and Santa Fe Drive in downtown Overland Park.
  • There, it operated near The Culinary Center Of Kansas City and Sacks on Santa Fe.
  • Before We Got Your Back opened in that space, it was previously occupied by Razzleberry, a now-closed boutique that left the space to move to the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri.

We Got Your Back offered Kansas City-themed apparel

  • Owners Reid Jolly and Rob Arnold initially opened We Got Your Back eight years ago at the Lenexa Public Market, before moving the business to downtown Overland Park.
  • The shop offered a variety of clothing made by Jolly and Arnold, along with goods from other Kansas City-area makers.
  • In a social media post, Arnold cited a number of challenges that ultimately led to the store’s closure — particularly in the last year and a half.
  • “I poured everything I possibly could to make it work, but it’s just not sustainable,” he said in the post.

With a closure comes new arrivals

  • Preceding the closure of We Got Your Back, downtown Overland Park saw several new additions in fall 2025, such as clothing store Encore and formal dress shop Bella Bridesmaids.
  • Party and event rental showroom Social Shop KC also opened a new space in downtown Overland Park in fall 2025.
  • Buffalo State Pizza also moved a bit further south on Santa Fe Drive to a new space, one that was initially a Ford dealership and gas station.
