This coffee chain is closing one JoCo shop but adding another

Caribou Coffee recently closed a store in Overland Park, but another one will open in Olathe this spring.

A Minnesota-based coffee chain has closed one Johnson County location, but it will soon open up another.

Caribou Coffee recently moved its coffee cart out of the Hy-Vee grocery store off 95th and Antioch Road in Overland Park.

The coffee cart was located near the front of the Hy-Vee grocery store at 8501 W. 95th St.

The closure comes, though, as the company prepares to open a new store in Olathe this spring.

  • Further north, the Minnesota-based company also closed its Merriam store in July 2025.
  • That store closed to make way for the incoming Trader Joe’s grocery store, as part of the Merriam Grand Station Marketplace development.

Another Caribou is coming to 18459 W. 158th Place

  • The company will open a new Olathe store this spring, just off 159th Street and Ridgeview Road.
  • A media spokesperson for Caribou said that location will have the company’s “cabin‑style” format, with a drive-thru, outdoor tables, and a pick-up window. (It will not offer indoor seating.)
  • It will also offer the full Caribou menu, from lattes and teas to food items like breakfast sandwiches and pastries.

Caribou Coffee still has 2 other shops in JoCo

  • Caribou Coffee still has two Johnson County locations, in southern Overland Park and Mission.
  • The company has another store inside a different Hy-Vee grocery store further north off Martway Street and Johnson Drive in Mission.
  • Caribou Coffee also has another Overland Park store further south, at 9050 W. 135th St.
