The farmers’ market season is about to kick off in Johnson County, with cities, vendors and patrons alike preparing for the annual opening.
One thing to note, this season, the Overland Park Farmers’ Market will start in its temporary location at the Matt Ross Community Center and eventually move to its permanent home at a new $34 million downtown pavilion at Clock Tower Landing later in the spring.
And it’s not the only farmers’ market on the move this year. Mission Market will also be in a new home at Broadmoor Park.
Here’s a look at when farmers’ markets are opening around Johnson County:
Overland Park — April 18
- The Overland Park Farmers’ Market kicks off for the 2026 season on Saturday, April 18, at Matt Ross Community Center.
- Then, it will move to the new pavilion at Clock Tower Landing on June 6, after a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony the day before.
- The market runs from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
- Wednesday markets will start on June 3.
- In the past, the Overland Park Farmers’ Market has ended in November, but the new pavilion will allow for year-round operation.

Olathe — April 25
- The Olathe Farmers Market will start its 2026 season on Saturday, April 25, at both Black Bob Park and in downtown Olathe (219 W Loula St.).
- The market runs from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, through Oct. 24.
- Wednesday markets will begin on May 6 and go through Sept. 23 at Black Bob Park.

Lenexa — April 25
- Lenexa’s outdoor farmers market begins on Saturday, April 25.
- The market will be held in the lower level of the Civic Campus parking garage at Lenexa City Center.
- It goes from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturdays through the end of October.
- Tuesday markets will begin on May 26 and go through the end of August.

Merriam — May 2
- The Merriam Farmers’ Market 2026 season starts on Saturday, May 2.
- It will be held at the Merriam Marketplace (5740 Merriam Drive).
- The market runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays.
- Alongside the market vendors, live music and free activities are scheduled alongside the farmers market throughout the summer.

Shawnee — May 2
- Shawnee’s Saturday market begins on Saturday, May 2, in the Shawnee City Hall parking lot.
- Saturday farmers markets run from 7 a.m. to noon, through Oct. 24.
- The city’s third Thursday event, Moonlight Market, also officially restarts on May 21.
- That event also takes place in the city hall parking lot and spills out onto surrounding streets.
- It takes place monthly through November, starting at 4 p.m.

De Soto — May 8
- The farmers market in De Soto begins for the 2026 season on Friday, May 8.
- This year, dubbed Rhythm & Roots Market, it runs every other Friday through Aug. 28, in Downtown De Soto.
- It goes from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., and features live music, food trucks and more alongside fresh produce.

Gardner — May 21
- Gardner’s farmers market will begin on Thursday, May 21.
- The market takes place from 4 to 7 p.m., in Cornerstone Park (215 N Center St.).

Mission — June 4
- The Mission Market starts for the 2026 season on Thursday, June 4.
- It now takes place in Broadmoor Park from 4:30 to 8 p.m. every Thursday through August.

- The Spring Hill Farmers Market begins on Saturday, June 6.
- It takes place near Spring Hill City Park, at Spring Hill Baptist Church, from 7:30 to 11 a.m.
