A recently fired Johnson County Sheriff’s deputy is out on bond after he was arrested and charged with rape last week.
According to court records, Justin Patrick Ramirez, 44, of Spring Hill, worked as a Johnson County Sheriff’s deputy for 10 years before his arrest.
The criminal complaint alleges that on Aug. 3, 2026, Ramirez had sexual intercourse with a person who was “unconscious or physically powerless.”
The alleged rape was reported to the Overland Park Police Department.
According to court documents filed by Ramirez’s attorney, the rape was not reported to police until three weeks after it allegedly occurred.
A warrant was issued for Ramirez’s arrest on Friday, Sept. 25.
Ramirez turned himself in at the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office Central Booking Facility, 101 N. Kansas Ave., in Olathe, at 4:21 p.m. on Friday.
He remained in custody over the weekend on a $500,000 bond before his first court appearance on Monday.
Court documents show his attorney argued that the $500,000 bond was set at twice what it should have been and that Ramirez could not post that amount.
The motion for a bond modification document states that Ramirez grew up in the metro area, graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School, and served four years in the United States Marine Corps.
The same document says the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office fired Ramirez when he was arrested.
A judge granted the bond modification, lowering his bond to $50,000, which he posted with a bail bondsman.
Jail logs show he was released from custody at 5:35 p.m. on Monday.
Conditions of his bond include GPS monitoring and no firearms, alcohol, illegal drugs, or controlled substances.
Ramirez is scheduled to make his next court appearance on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m.
