Brandon Holland (Democratic)
Brandon Holland, the son of longtime Democratic state legislator Tom Holland, ran unsuccessfully in the 2020 Democratic primary for House District 10. A Lawrence High School and University of Kansas graduate with a political science degree, Holland works as a store manager. He says he’s running for the Kansas House to “fight for affordable healthcare, fully funded public education, and working families across Kansas.”
Adam Turk (Republican, incumbent)
Adam Turk was first elected to District 117 in 2022 and chairs the House Higher Education Budget Committee. A master sergeant in the Kansas Air National Guard who served in Afghanistan, Turk is currently self-employed, according to a survey he filled out for local chambers of commerce. Turk wants a simpler, flatter tax code with fewer exemptions, a school finance formula tied to measurable gains in literacy and achievement and tuition caps to push universities to cut costs.
