Lauren Bohi (Republican, incumbent)
Lauren Bohi is seeking a second term after defeating then-Rep. Hougland in 2024 by 106 votes. A lifelong Kansan and MidAmerica Nazarene University graduate, Bohi spent seven years at a local organization providing mental health services to traumatized youth and now does administrative work for small businesses. Bohi backs capping property valuation spikes and cutting regulations to spur housing construction. She says she has repeatedly supported more special education funding while pushing for more federal aid.
Allison Hougland (Democratic)
Allison Hougland represented District 15 for one term in 2023 and 2024 and is trying to win back the seat she lost to Bohi two years ago. A lifelong Olathe resident, Hougland has worked as a realtor since 2017 and volunteers with Project 1020, a cold-weather shelter in Lenexa for people experiencing homelessness. Where Bohi emphasizes deregulation, Hougland wants to restore the state’s affordable housing tax credit and the Local Ad Valorem Tax Reduction Fund for property tax relief. She supports fully funding special education and expanding Medicaid.
