Salsa Grill Cantina, a Mexican restaurant that has been in business in Mission for more than 20 years, will close for good next month.
Located in a strip mall at 6508 Martway Street, Salsa Grill recently posted a sign on its front door letting customers know about the impending closure.
May 26 will be Salsa Grill’s last day
- The sign posted to the restaurant’s front door says it is “time for us to take a break and recharge the batteries” after 22 years in business.
- The message goes on to thank customers for years of patronage, particularly during COVID-19.
- “Stay tuned next year for new things to come,” the sign reads. “Thank you again.”
- The Post made multiple attempts by phone and in person to speak with owner Jon Lomsheck, but he could not be reached for comment for this story.

Other businesses in that strip have closed
- In the same Mission West strip mall, Avelluto’s Italian Delight closed in May 2021, due in part to challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the owners.
- It also appears that 9Round, a kickboxing gym two doors down from the Salsa Grill space is closed, with its sign removed, though Google search says it is a temporary closure.
- On the far eastern end of the strip, the space that formerly housed 50 States Bird Feeders is also currently vacant.
New tenants are moving into that area, though
- The Other Place, a pizzeria, is set to open in the former Italian Delight space.
- Meanwhile, a new salon, American Honey Hair Co., recently opened across the parking lot in a long vacant space next door to Dollar General.
