Winona Mae Chrisjohn, 92, Gardner, Kansas passed away peacefully Sunday, August 23, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2026 with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Bruce Funeral Home, 106 S. Center, Gardner, Kansas. Burial will follow at Gardner Cemetery, Gardner, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Condolences may be left at www.brucefuneralhome.com

Winona was born March 2, 1934 on the family farm near Hope, Kansas. She spent 92 years creating memories and sharing her love with family, friends and all those fortunate enough to know her. Winona enjoyed many things throughout her life. She loved square dancing and getting lost in a good book. She read many books and listened to countless audiobooks, always finding joy in a good story. She also loved traveling, especially taking trips with her senior clubs making wonderful memories and friendships along the way. Winona was proud of her professional accomplishments as she was honored to serve as Senior Vice President of Country Club Bank on the Plaza. Her dedication, hard work and commitment to those around her were an important part of her life.

Above all, Winona cherished spending time with her family. One of her greatest joys was watching her children and grandchildren play sports. She was a proud and loving mother and grandmother cheering her grandchildren on from the sidelines and making memories with them.

Winona is survived by her sons Scott (Tina) of Osawatomie, Kansas and Rick (Donna) of De Soto, Kansas; daughter-in-law Leah Chrisjohn, Overland Park, Kansas; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband Walter Chrisjohn; son Randy Chrisjohn; daughter Sheree Chrisjohn; brother Tracy Hilderman and great-grandson Kyler Adams. She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of family, love and cherished memories that will be carried on for generations to come. Winona will be remembered for her love of family, adventurous spirit, kindness and special place she held in the hearts of those around her. Winona’s presence brought warmth and comfort. Her memory will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. Winona Mae Chrisjohn will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. May she rest peacefully, knowing how deeply she was loved.
