Students, teachers and parents — current and past — begin farewell to Mission Valley tonight

It’s time to start saying goodbye to Mission Valley Middle School.

The “Mission Accomplished” farewell open house for the school will run tonight from 5:30-8 p.m. The open house is open to current and former students, faculty, staff and community members. The event will feature musical performances by current band, orchestra and choir classes; memorabilia on display; and a photo area where people can have their pictures taken with fellow alumni.

The school, which opened its doors as Meadowbrook Junior High School in the fall of 1958, will close its doors for good May 24 after a December vote by the Shawnee Mission Board of Education.
