Around town: A busy Saturday at Shawnee Mission East with Lancer Dancers, boys swim team

School was out Saturday, but Shawnee Mission East was buzzing with activity.

Dozens of student athletes and their parents were on campus for fall sports photos — and two of the teams took advantage of a captive audience by holding fun fundraisers. The defending national champion Lancer Dancers held their annual pancake breakfast in the auxiliary gymnasium, with food from Chris Cakes, music from student artists, and, of course, a performance by the dancers — who took a moment to pose for us with their title trophy:
