Crews begin work to reskin façade of north Corinth Square building

Construction crews have blocked off roughly two dozen parking spaces at the northwest Corinth Square building as they begin work on a project to revamp its façade to bring it inline with the rest of the center.

Representatives of property owner First Washington Realty say the project, which was approved by the city a couple of months ago, will be completed by late spring. McCownGordon Construction is the contractor on the project.

While some of the parking outside the building will be closed during the first phase of the project, the remaining tenants — including Hattie’s Coffee, Plaza Ford-Ideal dry cleaners and Rose Nails — will remain open. Several other tenants vacated the building to make way for Power Life Yoga, which announced in December it was planning on opening a new studio in the building. Power Life is expected to open in its new space before the exterior revamp is completed.

First Washington is eligible to receive reimbursement for the exterior renovations through the Community Improvement District tax that is collected at Corinth Square. However, because tax collections have not caught up with reimbursable expenses for work already completed at the center, it will likely be several years before the city is able to make payments to First Washington for the project.
