Later this month, the streets around Belinder Elementary will be full of feet big and small as the school puts on its first-ever Brave Run 5K and Fun Run.

A group of parents have been collaborating with physical education teacher LeAnn Carver-Jones to organize the event, which will be held April 22.

“We’ve had so many good wellness initiatives at the school that Mrs. Carver-Jones has helped put together, this just seemed like a great fit,” said PTA organizer Amy Burgess.

The route will run through the neighborhoods to the west of the school, with the start and finish line in Belinder’s circle drive. Member’s of the school’s Girls on the Run program will serve as volunteers during the race, staffing check in and catering tables.

The cost is $25 per runner for the 5K and $10 per runner for the Fun Run for participants who register before April 14, after which prices increase. You can register for the race on the event website here. All runners get an event tee-shirt.

The event is open to the public. Proceeds will be used by the PTA to help fund teachers’ requests for special projects.
