? Happening today

The Overland Park Planning Commission on Monday is set to consider a revised development plan for the former Sears site at 97th and Metcalf.

The project, now dubbed 97 Metcalf, is centered around a 93,000-square-foot Lifetime Fitness gym and health club on the east side of the lot.

The plan to be presented to the commission also includes a Panera Bread, a 5,000-square-foot QuikTrip, another pad-site restaurant and at least five more office/retail spaces that do not appear to have tenants yet.

A previous iteration of the plan — which envisioned repurposing the old Sears building — called for a more than 160,000-square-foot office space and separate day care.

Before that, developers had put forward the idea of building a multi-story apartment complex on the site, which drew criticism from residents in homes nearby.
