Warners’ Stellian opening new Leawood home appliance store

Home and kitchen appliance company Warners’ Stellian is on its way to Johnson County.

The Leawood City Council on Monday approved initial plans for a new Warners’ Stellian store in southern Leawood. Officials are considering a fall opening for the store on the southwest corner of West 135th Street and Nall Avenue.

This is the latest addition to Cornerstone area

  • Plans for the new store call for a roughly 12,000-square foot store at 5101 W. 135th St., on the Cornerstone of Leawood development, and near the future sites of MorningStar Senior Living and Rakar Dumpling House.
  • The shopping center also neighbors the Parkway Plaza and Overland Park’s Prairiefire shopping centers.

Leawood store is the first Warner’s Stellian in Kansas

  • The family-owned company based in Minnesota sells and services appliances like refrigerators, ovens, laundry machines, outdoor grills and air conditioning machines.
  • The specialty store also ships appliances in recyclable material.
  • Outside of its 10 stores in Minnesota, the company also has two stores in Iowa.

City still needs to approve a final plan

  • Upon the city’s approval of the final plans in the coming months, owner Robert Warner said the store will aim for a fall opening.
  • He said the company plans to open three or four more stores in the Kansas City area in the next three years.
  • “This will be our full brand, our best displays and a more intimate shopping experience,” Warner said. “It’s just not quite as easy for a big company to deliver the kind of experience that we can as a small family business.”
