Living Spaces has opened its first Kansas City area furniture showroom and store in a former Kohl’s in Lenexa.
The store sits at 12381 W. 95th St. just off of I-35. It spans 106,000 square feet, store manager Jorge Foneseca said, and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
This is Living Space’s first KC area showroom
- The store has an expansive furniture showroom and large mattress selection in the attached Revive Sleep Center.
- It also has a small cafe which serves some meals, as well as wine and beer.
- Additionally, there’s a children’s entertainment center that includes a movie theater.

The Lenexa store opened this week
- The store had a soft opening earlier this week but officially opens on Friday.
- “You walk in this door, and it grabs you and pulls you in,” Mayor Mike Boem said Thursday during a Lenexa Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting.
- This is the company’s first Kansas store and one of its first Midwest locations, with other stores primarily located in the western states.

There is a special 1% CID tax at the store
- The Lenexa Kohl’s closed as part of a string of closures across the U.S. four years ago.
- The building underwent significant upgrades over the last several months, including exterior and interior improvements ahead of Living Spaces’ opening.
- Last year, the Lenexa City Council awarded Living Spaces a special economic development grant split into two installments totaling $300,000
- The city also signed off on a community improvement district, which establishes an extra 1% sales tax in the area for 22 years. Living Spaces could collect up to $7 million in development cost reimbursement from that tax during that time period.
